ACN SERVICE WORTH RECOGNIZING

What does brotherhood mean when one of our own is no longer here? Does the bond end with his passing, or does our commitment extend to the family he leaves behind?
The Edo South Grande Council has demonstrated that genuine brotherhood goes beyond shared gatherings and celebrations. It is also about showing up for one another, especially when life becomes difficult.
As part of its outreach activities ahead of the Aviary Club of Nigeria's 30th anniversary, the Edo-South Aviary undertook a meaningful visit on Day 4 of its outreach programme.
Led by its Chapter President, Avian Uche Uchukwuka, alongside members of the Executive Council, the delegation visited the homes of wives of departed Avians.
The visit was more than a courtesy call. It was an opportunity to acknowledge the families left behind and provide practical assistance. The delegation presented bags of rice, financial support and words of encouragement to the women.
For the beneficiaries, the gesture addressed immediate household needs while delivering an equally important message: you have not been forgotten, and you remain part of this brotherhood's extended family.
The women expressed appreciation for the visit and the support received. The delegation also encouraged them to reach out whenever they encountered serious challenges and needed assistance.
Although the outreach was a single initiative, its message carries a lasting lesson. Service is not measured only by the scale of resources provided, but also by the thoughtfulness, compassion and commitment behind the action.
What Can Other Avians Learn?
The Edo South example reminds us that meaningful service often begins with noticing a need and choosing to respond.
It challenges every Avian to look beyond routine club activities and consider how we can make a practical difference in the lives of people around us.
It could be checking on a bereaved family, supporting a vulnerable household, volunteering professional expertise or responding to a pressing community need.
We commend the Edo South Grande Council for demonstrating that the values of brotherhood are most meaningful when translated into action.
Let Service Become Our Shared Legacy
As we celebrate our identity and look towards the future of the Aviary Club of Nigeria, let us carry this same spirit of commitment into our communities and our collective aspirations.
Support those who need a helping hand. Contribute according to your capacity. Offer relevant skills and give your time to initiatives that strengthen our communities and advance the ACN Permanent Site Project.
Because a lasting legacy is not defined only by what we build, but also by the lives we touch and the people we refuse to forget.
