A Decade of Commitment to Peace and Community Harmony

The Aviary Club of Nigeria particularly acknowledges His Royal Majesty’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence, encouraging reconciliation, and supporting efforts to restore harmony in communities across Benin and Edo State.

The traditional institution remains a vital instrument for conflict resolution, mediation, and the preservation of communal relationships.

Through the establishment of a Benin Customary Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, and cultural legitimacy vested in the throne, the throne has help bridge differences, encourage dialogue, and inspire communities to pursue peace rather than conflict.

The Aviary Club commends the Oba of Benin for the importance he places on peacebuilding and the continued preservation of the values that promote unity and stability within the Benin Kingdom.

We also recognise the significance of the annual prayers and spiritual observances associated with the Benin Kingdom, which provide opportunities for reflection, thanksgiving and supplication.

Such traditions underscore the enduring connection between culture, spirituality, leadership, and the collective aspirations of a people.

We also acknowledge One of the most prominent aspects of your reign which has been the sustained advocacy for the return of Benin artefacts looted during the 1897 British invasion.
