AVIARY CLUB OF NIGERIA STANDS FOR JUSTICE WHEN THERE IS A THREAT TO HUMANITY

Aviary Club of Nigeria Condemns Bullying and Violence Following the Tragic Death of 15 Year Old Ghanaian Boy, Javits Frimpong, in New York.
The Aviary Club of Nigeria expresses its profound sadness and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, classmates and loved ones of Javits Frimpong, the 15 year old Ghanaian boy who tragically lost his life following a shooting incident in the Bronx, New York, on 29 October 2026.
We extend our deepest sympathies particularly to his parents, Mr Thomas Frimpong and Mrs Doris Adu Gyamfi, whose grief is beyond what words can adequately describe.
No parent should have to endure the devastating experience of losing a child under such tragic circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family and the Ghanaian community at this difficult time.
BEYOND THE TRAGEDY: THE DANGERS OF BULLYING
Reports surrounding Javits’s death indicate that his father had previously raised concerns about alleged bullying at his son’s school. According to his account, Javits had complained about repeated harassment, and two students had reportedly been suspended following an earlier confrontation.
Although investigators have not established a connection between the reported bullying and the fatal shooting, the circumstances raise serious questions about the safety of children, the effectiveness of anti bullying interventions and the responsibility of institutions to protect vulnerable students.
Bullying should never be dismissed as ordinary childhood behaviour, harmless teasing or a normal part of growing up. Repeated intimidation, humiliation, threats and physical aggression can leave lasting emotional and psychological consequences. When warning signs are ignored or inadequately addressed, the consequences can become devastating.
WHERE THE AVIARY CLUB OF NIGERIA STANDS
The Aviary Club of Nigeria stands firmly against bullying, intimidation, harassment, discrimination, violence and every form of conduct that threatens human dignity.
Our position is clear: No child should be afraid to attend school, walk home, express themselves or exist peacefully within their community.
As an international fraternity built on brotherhood, integrity, discipline, leadership and service to humanity, ACN believes that protecting children and promoting peaceful communities are collective responsibilities.
Our advocacy extends beyond condemning wrongdoing. We encourage practical actions, including:
Responsible Parenting: Parents and guardians must create an environment where children feel comfortable discussing their fears, experiences and challenges without intimidation or judgment.
Institutional Accountability: Schools must take every bullying complaint seriously, investigate promptly, protect affected students and maintain appropriate follow-up even after disciplinary measures have been taken.
Youth Responsibility: Young people must understand that strength is demonstrated through character, self-control and respect for others, not intimidation, aggression or violence.
Community Intervention: Community leaders, civil society organisations and responsible associations must actively promote awareness, mentorship and peaceful conflict resolution.
Justice and Due Process: We call for a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation into Javits’s death, with anyone found responsible held accountable under the law.
A MESSAGE TO OUR YOUNG PEOPLE
Your words, actions and decisions have consequences. Never allow peer pressure, anger, jealousy or the desire to establish superiority to turn you into a source of suffering for another person.
To those experiencing bullying: speak up, report incidents to trusted adults and seek support. You do not have to endure intimidation in silence.
To those who witness bullying: do not encourage it, celebrate it or remain indifferent. Report it through appropriate channels and support those being targeted
To parents, teachers and school administrators: listen carefully when a child speaks about being threatened or repeatedly harassed. Sometimes, what appears to be a minor disagreement may be a serious cry for help.
OUR COMMITMENT: BROTHERHOOD BEYOND MEMBERSHIP
The Aviary Club of Nigeria recognises that its responsibility to society goes beyond its membership and geographical boundaries.
Through our humanitarian programmes, anti cultism campaigns, community security advocacy, youth empowerment initiatives and peacebuilding efforts, ACN remains committed to promoting a society where human life is respected and everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and security.
We believe that the true measure of brotherhood is not only how we stand for one another but also how we defend the dignity, safety and well being of humanity.
Javits’s death must not become another tragic headline that society eventually forgets. It should strengthen our collective determination to confront bullying, improve child protection systems and create safer environments for the next generation.
May his death not be in vain. May justice prevail, and may his family find the strength to endure this painful loss.
