On this historic day, i join millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to celebrate our beloved nation’s independence. Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, today stands tall at sixty-five years of freedom, resilience, and hope.
As we reflect on our journey, the words of our former National Anthem ring true:
“Arise, O Compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey, To serve our Fatherland with love and strength and faith.”
This anthem was more than song, it is a solemn charge to every Nigerian, a call to serve with dignity, a call to contribute with sacrifice, and a call to hope even when times are difficult.
The Nigerian Coat of Arms tells our story:
• The black shield reminds us of our rich and fertile soil.
• The rivers speak of our abundance and blessings.
• The eagle perched atop represents our strength, vision, and sovereignty.
• The horses standing guard reflect the nobility, resilience, and honor of our people.
Indeed, we are a people of unmatched resilience. Time and again, Nigerians have shown the ability to thrive even in the face of hardship. In our diversity, in our traditions, and in our culture lies a strength that cannot be broken. From the arts to enterprise, from music to innovation, from farming to technology, the Nigerian spirit soars like the eagle, never losing sight of tomorrow.
As members of the Aviary Club of Nigeria (ACN), we proudly echo this spirit. Our motto, “No Feather, No Bird,” reminds us that just as a bird cannot fly without its feathers, a nation cannot rise without the collective efforts of its people. Each feather, though small, is vital to flight. Each Nigerian, no matter their background, carries a responsibility to add their quarter to nation-building.
This is why the ACN continues to champion welfare, education, and community service, demonstrating that when men and women come together in discipline, brotherhood, and vision, society is uplifted. Our contribution may be one feather at a time, but together we build wings strong enough to lift generations.
As we mark this Independence Day, let us remember that the future of Nigeria does not rest in government alone. It rests in our hands, in the honesty of our work, the unity of our people, and the vision of our leaders. If we all give our quota, Nigeria will rise to her full potential, not only as the Giant of Africa but as a beacon of hope to the world.
In the words of our National Pledge, let us continue “to defend her unity, and uphold her honor and glory, so help us God.”
May the Aviary Club of Nigeria continue to soar.
May every Nigerian remain steadfast in hope.
And may the Federal Republic of Nigeria forever shine in honor and glory.
Happy Independence Day!
Signed,
Avian Sir Odia Eromosele
Global President, Aviary Club of Nigeria (ACN)
