The Aviary Club of Nigeria bows its head in solemn grief as we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Avian Kolapo Karatu, who answered the call of his Maker earlier today. He has since been laid to rest according to Islamic rites, and his transition has left a quiet void in our ranks. Yet his legacy will echo in every meeting room, every project, and every act of brotherhood.
Late Avian Kolapo Karatu was a proud son of Ilorin, Kwara State, and a pioneer member of Harmony Aviary within Arewa Region. From the very foundation of Harmony Aviary, he stood among the first to set its tone, with humility, consistency, and a servant’s heart. He became one of the steady hands that held the Aviary together through seasons of growth and challenge.
The Global Leadership of the Aviary Club of Nigeria received the news of his passing with deep sorrow. On behalf of the Global Executive Council, the Regional Council, and members worldwide, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Arewa Region. Most especially, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the members of Harmony Aviary who knew him most intimately as a brother, mentor, and friend.
For quite a while, Avian Kolapo battled illness with quiet courage and unwavering faith. Even in that season, he remained present in spirit and purpose. Words feel small now, but we are consoled by the indelible mark he left behind on the initiatives he championed, the younger members he guided, the unity he protected, and the values he upheld without compromise.
As an active member of the organization, his commitment to development was unmatched. Whether it was club projects, community outreach, or the personal growth of his brethren, he gave his time, wisdom, and resources freely. He believed that a man is measured not by what he gathers, but by what he builds for others.
Avian Kolapo exemplified the qualities of a man of purpose. Integrity guided his decisions, courage steadied his voice, and compassion softened his presence. He spoke little of himself, but his actions spoke loudly enough for all of us to hear and follow, even through the pain he bore privately.
Today, we release him to his final flight. As he soars beyond the noise and trials of this world, we pray that he finds perfect rest in the bosom of his Maker. May the peace he gave to others now return to him a thousand fold, and may Almighty Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.
At 47 years, he did not just live, he led a life of purpose. Every year was filled with intention: building from the ground up as a pioneer, mentoring those who came after, uniting us across differences, and serving without seeking recognition. Though his years were numbered, his impact is timeless. The Club is richer because he walked among us.
His memory will linger among us. We will cherish every moment his presence brought joy, every word that expressed love, and every effort that kept the Club united. The lessons he taught without preaching, and the example he set as an active, committed brother, will continue to shape us for generations to come.
So we say, with heavy hearts but firm faith: May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace, dear brother. Till we meet to part no more, Avian Kolapo Karatu, Pioneer Member and one of the pillars of Harmony Aviary. Harmony Aviary and the entire Aviary Club of Nigeria will carry your torch forward, honoring you in how we live, how we serve, and how we love one another.
Rest well beyond the skies, dearest brother! You are not forgotten.
