- Mental Health Is Wealth: Your Mental Health Matters – A Message from The Aviary Club of Nigeria!
June is globally dedicated as Men’s Mental Health Month. Whenever we hear the word “mental,” many in this part of the world equate it to madness. Your mental health refers to your emotional, social, and psychological well-being. In simple terms, the way you think, feel, and act. Your mental stability is a big deal because poor mental health can take over your whole being like a silent cancer, one that doesn’t require chemotherapy. It can affect how you relate with others, how you perform at work, and your general outlook on life. With global inflation, uncertainties, lean purses, and the constant stream of not-so-pleasant news every hour, believe me, it can be depressing. Taking in all these pressures can send negative signals to your brain. And when it can’t take any more, your body responds to those signals, and you start feeling and acting in ways you can’t explain. You begin withdrawing from gatherings, disregarding social events, and the clearest sign, neglecting your appearance. You start to wonder, “What’s there to be happy about?” It’s okay if things spiral out of control. Everyone worries. The difference is just what we worry about. And worry often stems from the fact that we cannot control everything that happens to us. At times like that, you want to do everything to get out of the situation. But why not soft-pedal? Take one thing at a time and focus only on what is immediate. This can help ease the discomfort that leads to anxiety and depression. Be conscious of yourself. Positive thoughts and a sense of expectation can lift your mood, because what you get from positive thinking is gratitude. Focus your thoughts on the bright side of things. There will always be negatives, don’t dwell on them. Training your brain to do so is key to a healthy mind. Face your fears, because fear paralyzes good intentions. If your brain senses danger, that’s what it registers and signals to your body. But when your brain receives positive signals, it reacts accordingly. As a form of self-therapy, positive thoughts make your fears easier to manage. You become a better person, not without fear, but with better mastery of it. Remember: “The past” is a closed door. Don’t open it. Being happy and smart requires you to be a good gatekeeper of your own mind. You are the only one who can allow wanted or unwanted thoughts. So what kind of gatekeeper are you to your own mind? Everyone has experienced, or is still experiencing, failure at some point in life. But obsessing over it is the wrong mental path, and it’s counterproductive. Accept your failures and setbacks as part of your learning process. Put them in the past and move on, that’s how you stay emotionally healthy. And lastly, talk to someone you trust. - The Aviary Club of Nigeria Advocates Against Fake Drugs and Counterfeit Products: A Collective Responsibility.
In every corner of the world, families, businesses, healthcare providers, and consumers depend on the trust that the products they use are genuine, safe, and effective. Yet, the growing menace of fake drugs and counterfeit products continues to threaten lives, undermine economies, and erode public confidence. The Aviary Club of Nigeria stands in solidarity with communities across the globe in the fight against counterfeit medicines and fake products. This is not merely a local challenge, it is a global crisis that demands collective action, awareness, and unwavering commitment. Fake drugs are among the most dangerous counterfeit products in circulation today. They often contain incorrect ingredients, harmful substances, insufficient active ingredients, or no active ingredients at all. Their consequences can be devastating, leading to treatment failures, severe health complications, prolonged illnesses, and, in many cases, the loss of innocent lives. Behind every counterfeit drug is a human story, a parent struggling to save a child, a patient fighting a disease, or a family placing their trust in a medication that ultimately fails them. These are tragedies that can and must be prevented. Counterfeit products extend beyond pharmaceuticals. Fake food items, cosmetics, electronics, automotive parts, agricultural products, and consumer goods pose significant risks to public safety and economic development. They damage legitimate businesses, discourage innovation, and create unfair market conditions for genuine manufacturers and entrepreneurs. Every counterfeit product purchased unknowingly fuels an illegal network that profits at the expense of public welfare. At the Aviary Club of Nigeria, we believe that education and collaboration are essential. Communities must be equipped with the knowledge to: Purchase products from trusted and authorized sources. Verify product authenticity where verification systems exist. Check packaging, labels, expiration dates, and registration details carefully. Report suspected counterfeit products to the appropriate authorities. Share information that helps protect others from becoming victims. The Aviary Club of Nigeria stands firmly in support of global efforts to eradicate counterfeit products and fake drugs. We call upon all stakeholders to strengthen awareness, promote transparency, support enforcement measures, and prioritize consumer safety. Every life matters. Every genuine product protects a consumer. Every action against counterfeiting strengthens our communities. Let us work together to build a future where trust is restored, safety is guaranteed, and counterfeit products no longer threaten the well-being of people around the world. The fight against fake products is a fight for human dignity, public health, and a safer tomorrow.
