- Aviary Club Of Nigeria | what it means to feel Among and to be Among
To Feel Among and To Be Among in the Aviary Club of Nigeria In the light of existence, there is often a fine line between feeling among and being among. Within the Aviary Club of Nigeria, a society rooted in discipline, brotherhood, and shared values, this distinction becomes even more significant. TO FEEL AMONG To feel among is to enjoy the atmosphere of belonging without fully embracing its essence. It is to stand within the circle, yet not carry the circle within. Many can feel the warmth of brotherhood when voices rise in chants, when laughter echoes at converges, or when the glorious history of the Aviary is retold with pride. Yet, feelings alone are fleeting. They arrive with the moment and can vanish just as swiftly. TO BE AMONG To be among is a far deeper calling. It means walking the constitution, living the principles, and embodying the values that give the Aviary its true identity. Being among is not a sentiment, it is a lifelong commitment. It is loyalty expressed through sacrifice, discipline, and responsibility. It is a constant presence, not a seasonal participation, a daily expression of who we are, not merely what we say. AS AN AVIAN Our founders did not set out to establish a place where men could simply feel among. They envisioned an Aviary where every Avian is called to be among, to stand as a true brother, to uphold discipline, and to safeguard the sacred bond of love and mutual respect that defines us. The question that each Avian must reflect upon is this, Do I merely feel among, or am I truly among? The answer is not found in words but in actions, our loyalty, our contributions, and our unwavering faithfulness to the ideals of ACN. In the Aviary Club of Nigeria, to be among is to rise above fleeting emotions and anchor oneself in the timeless values of our brotherhood. It is to live as a Bird whose wings are strengthened not by presence alone, but by the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment that make the Aviary a home for true men of honor. Be among today. Uplift your Aviary Chapters. Stand firm in discipline, walk boldly in brotherhood. Let your voice be heard, let your actions be felt. And when history calls, let it recall your legacy. - Be a Gem: In Memory of Pastor Elder Olufemi Martins (Baba Marto)
There are people whose presence defines an era. In the Aviary Club of Nigeria, one such towering figure was Elder Olufemi Martins, affectionately known to many as Baba Marto . To say he was a gem that comes once in a generation is not hyperbole. His legacy is one of mentorship, integrity, and vision: a man who helped to shape generations of Avians, guiding them to become intellectuals of character and conscience. The Aviary Club of Nigeria (ACN) is a worldwide non-profit, multi-disciplinary organization, whose roots lie deeply in the ideals of brotherhood, social justice, and leadership. It was at the University of Ibadan that the club began as a student body committed to activism and moral seriousness. One of its earliest defining moments came following the assassination of General Murtala Mohammed in 1976, members of the club, including Olufemi Martins , participated in the protest demonstration in Ibadan in response. Over time, the Aviary Club evolved from its student-club beginnings into a global institution with members across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, graduates and professionals who strive to carry on its core values. Elder Olufemi Martins was more than a member; he was a pillar and a true Avian. He was described repeatedly as a mentor , brother , friend , and a person of exemplar moral rectitude. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the Aviary Club from campus activism to global professionalism. Under his influence, the club transcended its original boundaries. Even in his final days, he remained devoted, to his family, to his faith (having served as a Pastor ), to the ideals of the club, to his daughters, and to all those he nurtured. In the words of one Avian writing about him: “He was a key personality to the propagation of our Club … an exemplary gentleman. A man of integrity. And a friend for all situations … We celebrate you, Baba Oloki though you will be sorely missed.” The mark of a great man is not only what he builds, but what continues on after him. Baba Marto’s legacy is manifest in several enduring ways: The Medical Outreach Program In his memory, the Aviary Club of Nigeria holds a Medical Outreach , now in its 9th edition as of 2024. These outreach events seek to provide healthcare and aid to underserved communities. Charitable & Educational Engagements Under the club’s activities, there are orphanage visits, provision of writing materials to schools (e.g. Dutse Alhaji, Abuja), and other community service events. These embody the compassion that Baba Marto upheld. Strengthening the Institution of the Aviary Club Thanks to his efforts, the Aviary Club has grown in structure, impact, reputation, and reach. It is no longer simply a student club; it is a broad, global fellowship of minds committed to integrity, leadership, and social impact. Personal Mentorship Many of the current members testify to how Baba Marto shaped them not just as professionals, but as persons: cultivating integrity, humility, and a sense of responsibility. His life illustrates how leadership is lived, not merely preached. The phrase Ìròkò , likely referencing the great iroko tree, a symbol of strength, stability, and endurance in Yoruba culture, is apt: a tree that stood firm, sheltered many, and whose absence is keenly felt. To be an Avian is to be under wing. To have known him personally or through the ripples of his influence is a privilege. As ACN continues its work, its faith, its service, its demand for justice and integrity, these things are all richer because of Pastor Elder Olufemi Martins. In honor of Baba Marto, let us: commit to upholding the ideals he held dear: integrity, service, brotherhood, education, and justice carry forward the charitable works in his name and memory mentor the younger generation as he mentored so many remember that institutions endure because of people like him Late Pastor Elder Olufemi Martins (Baba Marto) was truly one in a generation, a gem whose light continues to shine through the lives he touched, the principles he defended, and the club he helped build. The Aviary Club of Nigeria is and will forever be richer for his life. May his memory remain a blessing. Rest in Eternal Peace, Baba Marto. “May this remembrance bring us to light, that we are all only passing through this world. What will you be remembered for? Let us live lives of service, integrity, and love, just as Baba Marto did. For in the end, our true legacy is not what we own, but the lives we touch.”

- Aviary club of Nigeria, Provincial Councils and Grande Councils.
6 Provincial Councils and 48 Grande councils The Aviary Club of Nigeria, since its noble birth in 1996, has spread its wings beyond borders, soaring gracefully across continents to become a true global brotherhood of Noble Men. This grand diversification has woven a tapestry of connection, making it effortless for Avians to network, bond, and embrace one another wherever destiny places them. From the Galata Tower of Istanbul to the Golden Coast of Accra, the communion of the Aviary spirit bridges every divide. From Amasonia in the Americas to the Cape of South Africa, the bond remains unbroken, as seamless and natural as the kinship between the Okpezillo clan of Edo and the Dandillion brotherhood in Nasarawa, united in harmony, bound in purpose, and elevated by the same noble call. Indeed, the Aviary is not just a club, it is a sanctuary of brotherhood, a flight of noble men whose wings carry them to every corner of the earth, yet always back to one heart, one spirit, one destiny. - Calling All Media Teams: Ensuring Branding Harmony within the Aviary Club of Nigeria
Attention all regions, chapters, and media teams across the globe! We're reaching out to ensure clarity and consistency in how we represent the Aviary Club of Nigeria (ACN) in all our internal and external communications. This communique outlines a crucial point regarding our organizational structure and provides a clear guideline for flyer and article creation. At the heart of the Aviary Club of Nigeria lies a foundational structure that defines our existence. It's paramount that all members, and especially our dedicated media teams, understand this structure: Without the Aviary Club of Nigeria Supreme Council, the Province does not exist. And without the Province, any Grande cannot exist. The chain of authority originates with the ACN Supreme Council. The Certificate of Operation emanates from the Aviary Club of Nigeria (ACN), granting the Province the authority to operate. Subsequently, the Province empowers the Grande to function. This established hierarchy is the cornerstone of our organization, and it's vital that our branding reflects this accurately. Therefore, when creating flyers or articles for programs or events that do not involve elections or administrative duties, please adhere to the following format for organizational naming: Example: "The Aviary Club of Nigeria, [Your Provincial Council Name], [Your Chapter Name] present: [Event Title]" "The Aviary Club of Nigeria, SADC Provincial Council, Tshwane Aviary Chapter Present:" “FAMILY PICNIC” By consistently employing this format, we clearly communicate the relationship between the Aviary Club, its Provincial Councils, and its local Chapters. This unified approach strengthens our brand identity and ensures everyone understands the robust support system behind each event and initiative. Why is this important? Clarity and Recognition: Consistent branding builds recognition and clarifies the scope of each level within the organization. Reinforcement of Hierarchy: It reinforces the fundamental structure of the Aviary Club of Nigeria. Professionalism: A unified brand presence enhances our professionalism and strengthens our credibility. We understand that you, the dedicated media teams, are the voice and face of the Aviary Club of Nigeria. Your efforts are crucial in promoting our activities and engaging with the wider community. Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines. Together, let's ensure we are presenting a strong, unified, and accurate image of the Aviary Club of Nigeria to the world. Let's make it work! ACN Media Aviary Club of Nigeria 📧 info@theaviaryclub.org 📧 media@theaviaryclub.org 🌐 www.theaviaryclub.org

- Leadership Beyond Friendship: Building Competence and Capacity in Organizations
Aviary club Logo One of the greatest threats to any organization’s growth is the tendency to prioritize friendship over competence in leadership. While personal relationships are valuable, an organization that places loyalty above ability risks falling into inefficiency, disunity, and stagnation. True progress requires leaders who are selected not because of who they know, but because of what they can do. Competence, discipline, and vision must outweigh sentiments if the organization is to achieve lasting success. Every executive office should be open to healthy debate, structured presentations, and transparent contests. Individuals interested in leadership roles must be allowed to present their vision, defend their ideas, and prove their capacity. This approach ensures that only those with the knowledge, skills, and dedication to serve are entrusted with responsibility. When leadership positions are distributed solely on the basis of friendship or favoritism, the organization risks the following: • Incompetence in decision-making • Lack of accountability • Stifled innovation • Erosion of trust among members On the other hand, a merit-driven structure strengthens unity, motivates members, and inspires confidence both within and outside the organization. For any organization that truly wishes to grow, transparency must be a non-negotiable value. By encouraging open contests for leadership, creating opportunities for all members to participate, and establishing accountability measures, organizations can: • Build strong capacity in their leadership pipeline • Develop a culture of fairness and trust • Guarantee long-term sustainability Organizations thrive when competence and capacity take priority over friendship and favoritism. Growth demands discipline, transparency, and a commitment to meritocracy. Every member must have the chance to contribute, and every office must be earned through proven ability. Leadership is not a gift to friends, it is a responsibility to serve. Acn Media contact@theaviarynews.org media@theaviaryclub.org info@theaviaryclub.org www.theaviaryclub.org
